Ezidi New Year

  • Known as the Ezidi New Year,  is celebrated on the first Wednesday of April according to the Ezidi calendar.
  • It marks the beginning of creation, when Tawûsê Melek descended to Earth. Families light oil lamps, color eggs, and visit cemeteries to honor ancestors.

  • Held in December, this is one of the most important religious feasts for Ezidis.
  • It includes three days of fasting followed by a celebration with prayers, communal meals, and acts of charity to strengthen community bonds.

Jema’iyê-Feast of Assembly

Jema’iyê-Feast of Assembly

  • Celebrated in mid-October, this week-long festival is held at the holy site of Lalish in northern Iraq.
  • Ezidis gather to perform sacred rituals, attend sermons, and connect with their faith and community.

Jema’iyê-Feast of Assembly

  • This feast commemorates Tawûsê Melek and emphasizes gratitude, sacrifice, and prayer.
  • It typically includes animal sacrifices and sharing meals with the community and those in need.

This feast is connected to the ritual of Ezidis related to the creation and nature. Ezidis celebrate this feast in January every year and offer visitors food and drinks. likewise, the visitors wish them a happy feast.
